Introduction
The Department of Infectious Disease at Shenzhen Second People’s Hospital consists of 19 medical and nursing staff, including 2 chief physicians, 4 staff with intermediate titles, 1 PhD holder, and 6 master’s degree holders. The department specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of infectious diseases, including notifiable infectious diseases, complex and drug-resistant infections affecting various organs and systems both in and outside the hospital, and the evaluation of unexplained fevers. It is also highly experienced in the management of hepatitis, liver cirrhosis, and related complications. Additionally, the department oversees the clinical diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases throughout the hospital and provides guidance on the rational use of antibiotics.
The department comprises an Infectious Disease Outpatient Clinic, Hepatology Clinic, Intestinal Disease Clinic, Fever Clinic, and an Inpatient Ward, all housed in a standalone three-story building in the southeast corner of the hospital. The first floor accommodates outpatient consultation rooms and a CT room, while the second and third floors are designated for inpatient care. The department is equipped with advanced medical devices, including high-flow humidified oxygen therapy devices, non-invasive and invasive ventilators, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) systems, and multislice spiral CT scanners.
